Did you know a large percentage of roasters who think they have tasted Maragogype are the victims of "Maragogype laundering"? Many exporters take large screen sizes of other varieties, including lower-cupping varieties, and call them "Maragogype."

However, the real thing Maragogype has an enormous jasmine note reminiscent of Panamanian geishas that is perhaps as big as the enormous size of these beans. Maragogype is a natural mutation of caturra discovered near Maragogipe, Brazil in 1870.

What are Elephant Beans?

Maragogype (also called elephant beans) is a variety of arabica that produces an extremely large and rather porous bean.
