Intriguingly, there are two ways to use this brewer, and people get very loyal to one way or another. In this Aeropress brew guide we are showing you the popular inverted method, but if you would like to learn more about this amazing little piece of equipment, we've got a blog post that deep dives into its history, quirks and the tractional method Aeropress brew guide. You can read it here.

STEP 1

Remove the cap from the AeroPress and place a paper filter inside. Give the filter a quick rinse to remove any papery taste and to warm the cap. While that drains, insert the plunger into the chamber so it sits just below the top of the number 4 mark (viewable on the side of the chamber.)

STEP 2

Invert the AeroPress so the open end to the chamber is uppermost. Depending on how many cups you are making, grind 1 - 4 scoops of coffee (1 per cup). Place this coffee in the chamber.

STEP 3

Cover the coffee with hot water and stir with the padel provided. Take care for spilling when you do this as it’s now top heavy. Leave to sit for 15 - 20 seconds.

STEP 4

Re-attach the cap making sure it is firmly fitted, flip the AeroPress back the right way, with the cap sitting safely onto a pre-warmed mug. Next, press down slowly but consistently, until you feel resistance.

STEP 5

Continue pressing until all the water has filtered through the coffee. This should take 20-25 seconds. The final hiss tells you the brew is complete. Top up your cup with water or add milk to taste.

**TOP TIP**

If you’re making more than 1 cup, pour all the coffee into 1 vessel then distribute between the glasses so everyone experiences the same taste.
