Monsoon Malabar

Monsoon Malabar

Monsoon Malabar is an Indian coffee with a unique taste. It is aged and dried slowly in the monsoon winds on the west coast of India, laid out in open-sided barns, so that the moisture laden winds from the Arabian Sea swell the exposed coffee beans during the monsoon months of June to September, hence the nickname Monsoon Coffee.

Product Information

Monsoon Malabar coffee is a really interesting bean to roast. Known as monsoon coffee due to its aging process, we call it mellow yellow for the unique yellow hue to the raw coffee beans (which are usually green). This spectacular Indian coffee is one of our most popular for a good reason: the spicy, earthy and smoky flavours, with just a hint of a tobacco note.

As with many Indian coffee beans , the monsoon coffee is wonderfully full bodied with a mild to medium acidity. Monsoon Malabar can be brewed in all methods, but we think espresso is best to maintain its excellent crema and the special, uniquely Indian, flavour.

When the beans arrive in the UK, we slow roast them meticulously in small batches until we reach the optimum roasted colours which makes the coffee appealing both to the palate and the eye.
