I first roasted this coffee many years ago as part of a charitable event for which Joanna Lumley is the Patron. Since then, Nepalese Mount Everest coffee beans have become hugely popular which has unfortunately driven up the price significantly. We are absolutely delighted to have secured a small quantity, and can offer to you this outstanding, rare sought after coffee which I guarantee is certainly worth a try!

Coffee crops in Nepal were introduced in 1994. The coffee trees used for this plantation come from Papua New Guinea, which originally came from its Blue Mountains. Although the Himalaya Mountains are more famous for tea cropping, coffee was planted in order to get an uncommon and exceptional coffee. It is the northernmost coffee grown in the world. Mount Everest Supreme is cultivated at 2200-2400 feet above sea level in the South of the Mount Ganesh HimalMountain Range.  This is surprisingly low level for coffee growth however, due to the proximity to the Himalayan mountain range, going any higher would put the plants at risk of frost and potential damage. The plantation is located 75km North of the capital Kathmandu. Mount Everest Supreme is certified organic: organic methods are a priority on this plantation. This coffee also has a limited availability as it is only grown on 100 hectares.

The harvest usually takes place between November and January, and the coffee is ready for export by February/March. Located near mountains under snow throughout the year, the plantation is irrigated thanks to snow water torrent which comes from the thaw of the Mount Ganesh Himal. It is then sundried and 100% hand sorted and cleaned.

We are really excited to have got our hands on this coffee and hope that you enjoy it as much as we do.

This coffee works fantastically well in all brewing equipment, including espresso / cappuccino machines, cafetiere pots, paper / metal filter brewers, and turkish brewers.
