Christopher Curtis

04-Jul-09 - Definitely a complex flavour, which given my propensity towards the east indian coffees, and not particularly liking african coffees, I found a pleasant challenge! An aquired taste, in summary, but worth a try

16-Jan-10 - This is amazing - one of the best coffees i have tasted. All the family love it. Well worth a try if you havent tasted this coffee.

22-Feb-10 - Yirg is my perennial favourite coffee, the best description I can give is that it has everything you’re missing in a cup of instant. Most roasters roast Yirgaffe on the light side, to accentuate the acidity. Liz at Coffee Bean Shop does it right, just that one stage darker to bring out the raunchy, sultry mocha flavours, leaving enough brightness to delight first thing in the morning. Get a grinder and buy whole bean. It’s worth it.

30-Mar-10 - Rich with a satisfying after taste. A coffee that should appeal to people who appreciate a decent cup of coffee and at a reasonable price.

21-Jun-10 - The Yirg is a really versatile bean, with a good bite and interesting flavour that gets it noticed amongst the other fine choices available here.

Dial the strength back and smooth coffee lovers will love it, the gentle kick cutting through the milk and delivering its layers of flavour with ease. Crank up the strength to make an espresso, and its intense payload will give the palette both barrels - see who reaches for the sugar first!

The Yirgacheffe's ability to cover all bases from tamed to TNT has made it a firm favourite of mine, and is a regular tag partner with the more mild mannered Monsoon Malabar in my order basket.

Highly recommended.
